African American Athletic Achievements

We know the name Jessie Owens but why should we know John Baxter Taylor?  Mr Taylor was the first African American to win a gold medal in the Olympic Games in London, England as part of the medley relay team.  He was preceded by George Coleman Page who was actually the first African American to win a medal in the Olympic Games.  He won a bronze medal in the 200m and 400m hurdles in 1904 in St. Louis, MO.

Come join as we make learning fun and celebrate the African American athletes and events that make sports what they are today.
