Allow your creative juices to flow as we learn about the African Americans who have paved the way in the areas of dance, DJ'ing, and fashion design. These individuals have taken their passion and molded it into a successful career. We will realize that oftentimes, their success came by way of unexpected paths.

Whether you are talking ballet, hip hop, tap or modern dance, there are a number of dancers and choreographers that deserve to be honored and remembered. We will revisit the likes of Gregory Hines and Katherine Dunham, but also be introduced to many more.

If asked to name 3 DJ's, you would probably immediately respond with "Spinderella, DJ Jazzy Jeff and Jam Master Jay," but are you familiar with Frankie Knuckles, DJ Hurricane, or Yvonne Daniels? Don't worry, after a couple of days of GoByk camp, your child will be able to tell you all about them.

The last area of exploration for the week is design. By now we all know Ruth Carter, the costume designer for Black Panther, however, did you know that she originally studied special education but ended up being known as "the costume girl" on campus?

These are just a taste of the knowledge GoByk will provide during Dance, DJ's and Design. As with all GoByk camps, we will learn about the Black National Anthem, and learn related quotes by notable African-Americans. But, most of all, we will have fun!
